Sea Runner Guide Service operates both boat-based and float plane fly out trips to remote streams around the Juneau area. Whether accessed by boat or plane, the pristine wilderness of Southeast Alaska is a unique place, where wild salmon, bald eagles and bears abound. The terrain includes a narrow mainland strip of steep and rugged mountains, lush old-growth forests, ice fields and glaciers, over one thousand islands and boasts towering stands of spruce, hemlock, and cedar.
Your guide will pick you up at your pre-arranged place and time. Most trips begin at Juneau Fly Fishing Goods, our local fly shop, where your guide will help you pick out the flies* needed for the day's adventure. We will then transfer to the airport or the harbor. After a safety briefing we'll embark on a scenic trip to a remote stream. Waders, jackets, food, and fishing gear will be provided, although you are welcome to bring any personal gear you have. Your guide will have fishing licenses on hand for sale for those who don't already have them.
Upon arriving at the mouth of the stream, the gear is assembled and casting instruction is provided to novices. You'll fish with the assistance of your guide and enjoy the beauty, wildlife and solitude of your selected stream. The beaches tend to be quite rocky and usually some hiking involved. On some trips, we may be hiking along the stream banks, through the forest, and over uneven terrain.
The fish availability and specific itinerary for your trip will depend on the time of year, weather and tide conditions, and the overall physical condition of the group. All trips are catch and release. Both half and full day trips are available.
HALF DAY TRIPS- Approximately 3.5 to 4 hours of on-stream time. Flies, tippet material and a light lunch are also provided.
FULL DAY TRIPS- Approximately 7 hours of fishing on stream is provided and more remote locations may be selected. A full lunch and beverages are included.
